Brian Eno riceverà il Premio alla Carriera della Biennale di Venezia.
Brian Eno - compositore, musicista, produttore, artista visivo - riceverà il Leone d'oro alla carriera della Biennale Musica 2023 "per la sua ricerca sulla qualità, la bellezza e la diffusione del suono digitale e per la sua concezione dello spazio acustico come strumento compositivo".
La decisione è stata presa dal Consiglio di Amministrazione della Biennale di Venezia, che ha approvato la segnalazione di Lucia Ronchetti, Direttore del Dipartimento Musica, in linea con il tema del 67° Festival Internazionale di Musica Contemporanea (16 > 29 ottobre), Micro-Music, che intende evidenziare "il fascino e la ricchezza espressiva del suono digitale".
"Fin dall'inizio della sua carriera - scrive Lucia Ronchetti nella motivazione - le composizioni di Brian Eno sono state concepite nei termini di un processo generativo che si evolve in una dimensione temporale potenzialmente infinita, prefigurando molte delle odierne tendenze compositive legate al suono digitale.
La sua concezione dello studio di registrazione come meta-strumento ai fini della composizione, dominio per l'elaborazione, la moltiplicazione e l'assemblaggio di frammenti sonori registrati, simulacri acustici e oggetti sonori autonomi, ha permesso a Eno di creare uno spazio elettronico immersivo che trasforma e permea la realtà sonora che ci circonda, secondo drammaturgie sempre diverse.
Grazie alla sua concezione della musica registrata come un vasto archivio di frammenti sonori infinitesimali, un'infinita tavolozza acustica a disposizione del compositore, una mise en abyme della storia della musica, la musica ambient generativa è percepita da Brian Eno come la creazione concettuale di un seme in grado di svilupparsi, piuttosto che come un albero già progettato in ogni dettaglio, invocando un paradigma compositivo ispirato alla biologia piuttosto che all'architettura, in grado di evolversi da solo e di generare costantemente nuovi paesaggi sonori".
il 22 ottobre (ore 12), nella Sala delle Colonne di Ca' Giustinian, Brian Eno riceverà il Leone d'oro alla carriera. La cerimonia sarà seguita da una conversazione con lui e il critico musicale Tom Service.
Róisín Murphy ha firmato per la prima volta con Ninja Tune e ha pubblicato un nuovo singolo in collaborazione con DJ Koze, "CooCool".
Abile e creativa, ancora una volta la Murphy sovverte le aspettative con una traccia che combina diversi generi musicali e ha un'anima intrigante. CooCool nasce dalla collaborazione con il produttore tedesco DJ Koze e dal loro metodo pan-internazionale di lavorare insieme unendo affinità a mosaici. Il risultato è delizioso.

Terraforma svela i primi artisti della sua ottava edizione. Dal 9 all’11 giugno Hudson Mohawke,
Kuljit Bhamra, Beatrice Dillon e molti altri si esibiranno nella splendida cornice di Villa
Arconati alle porte di Milano.
Dal 9 all’11 giugno torna Terraforma, festival internazionale che coniuga sperimentazione artistica e
sostenibilità ambientale. Come tutti gli anni Terraforma si svolgerà a Villa Arconati, una delle storiche
ville del Parco delle Groane, situata nella frazione di Castellazzo di Bollate a soli 30 minuti da Milano.
Per l'ottava edizione, Terraforma si presenta più orientato alla sua community, tornando a quella
dimensione più umana e diy a cui il suo pubblico è abituato ed affezionato.
Terraforma 2023 si ispira fortemente al concetto di “Organic Music Society” frutto dell'incontro
leggendario tra il polistrumentista americano Don Cherry e l'artista interdisciplinare Moki Cherry che
hanno saputo azzerare il confine tra l’arte e la vita.
Per le lectures e i concerti matinèe, Terraforma collabora con Blank Forms, che presenterà al festival
il libro “Organic Music Societies” con un panel di Lawrence Kumpf e Naima Karlsson, e co-curerà i
live di Exotic Sin feat. TYSON e Still House Plants.
Come ogni anno, Terraforma rinnova la sua identità visiva, facendo interpretare il linguaggio del
festival ad un nuovo artista: il fotografo colombiano Jim C. Nedd.
Tra i primi nomi del programma musicale si nota subito un continuum unico e travolgente tra concerti
dal vivo e DJ set: Beatrice Dillon con Kuljit Bhamra, maestro del Bhangra; Hudson Mohawke, con
un' interpretazione del suo terzo album “Cry Sugar” tra campionamento, sperimentazione, electro e
hip hop; il newyorkese Dawuna, tra R&B, free jazz ed esistenzialismo religioso; il parigino Aho
Ssan, presto anche su Other People di Nicolás Jaar con “Rhizomes”; Patrick Belaga (PAN) e
Tapiwa Svosve, insieme per sperimentazioni di violoncello e sassofono; il vocalist dub/raggae Paul
St. Hilaire aka Tikiman con SCION (Substance & Vainqueur), a cui dobbiamo molto di quello che
ci arriva da Berlino da 20 anni; i DJ set di Batu, Josey Rebelle, Low Jack B2B STILL (PAN),
upsammy (PAN), Dennis Bovell — leggendario discografico raggae; e gli immancabili resident di
Terraforma Donato Dozzy B2B Marco Shuttle e Paquita Gordon, per un nuovo, unico viaggio tra
acid house, disco tropicale, drum'n'bass, techno, dub e spiritual jazz; il duo Exotic Sin formato da
Kenichi Iwasa e Naima Karlsson prevede pianoforte, tromba, flauti, percussioni e due dei "sassofoni
zen" di Don Cherry, e si esibirà al festival con TYSON, cantautrice di base a Londra fresca di
collaborazioni con Dean Blunt e Coby Sey; Still House Plants di Jessica Hickie-Kallenbach, Finlay
Clark e David Kennedy, con un pop sperimentale e tagliente tra campionamenti, slow core e R&B.
Dopo il già tutto esaurito della prima tranche di biglietti, è finalmente disponibile la seconda, per tre
giorni in campeggio.
SBTRKT annuncia il primo album in sette anni, “The Rat Road”.
Il nuovo singolo "Waiting" è il primo assaggio del quarto album del produttore.
SBTRKT ha reso noti i dettagli del suo quarto album "The Rat Road" e ha condiviso il primo singolo, "Waiting" (feat. Teezo Touchdown).
Il seguito dell'album di Aaron Jerome del 2016 "SAVE YOURSELF" arriverà il 5 maggio.'Waiting' vede il musicista e produttore sperimentare un suono diverso dalle sue precedenti, roboanti uscite elettroniche.
"Ascolto e cerco sempre nuova musica e mi sono imbattuto in una canzone di Teezo, 'I'm Just A Fan', nell'ottobre del '21", ha spiegato Jerome a proposito della collaborazione con Touchdown per il primo singolo dell'album.
Parlando del suo prossimo LP, Jerome ha aggiunto: "Questo album è stato il mio disco più ambizioso dal punto di vista sonoro - seguendo il mio percorso musicale - che non si basa sulla percezione altrui di ciò che SBTRKT dovrebbe essere".
"Il titolo 'The Rat Road' è un gioco di parole sul concetto di 'corsa dei topi'. Si basa in parte sulle mie esperienze difficili nell'industria musicale e nella vita in generale, anche se mi sono reso conto che l'idea non è isolata da un sentimento molto più ampio di stanchezza, decisamente vero qui nel Regno Unito, con poco senso di tregua per i costi sempre crescenti, le opportunità sempre più ridotte e una mentalità di divisione e conquista.
"Nel disco c'è una giustapposizione tra determinazione e disperazione".
Il nuovo club M01 del team di Wilde Renate aprirà a Berlino.
Il locale si trova accanto a Renate, a Friedrichshain.
Il team dietro i club berlinesi Salon zur Wilden Renate e ELSE sta per lanciare questo mese un nuovo locale a Friedrichshain, M01.
L'intimo club sarà situato accanto al Renate, sul lato nord del locale, con una capacità di 400 persone su due piani.
Situato nella zona est di Friedrichshain, sulla Markgrafendamm, l'M01 è composto da tre sale con una pista da ballo da 150 persone al piano inferiore e due sale al piano superiore con spazi per sedersi, mostre e altro ancora.
Alessandro Boni ha spiegato: "A Berlino ci sono molti grandi club, ma la città ha bisogno di piccoli locali per la comunità di promotori e collettivi fai-da-te. Vogliamo permettere ai piccoli promotori, finanziati in modo indipendente, di curare le proprie feste senza il rischio finanziario di lavorare in spazi più grandi. Così, l'M01 offre sia un ambiente intimo che un'opportunità finanziariamente valida per sostenere le loro idee".
L'apertura ufficiale del locale è prevista per questo mese, anche se non sono ancora stati annunciati né una data di apertura né degli eventi.
Secondo M01, il locale offrirà una gamma di generi che vanno dalla house e dalla techno all'electro, collaborando con "promotori esterni indipendenti che condividono una visione alternativa della musica e della cura degli eventi".

Brian Eno will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Venice Biennale.
Brian Eno - composer, musician, producer, visual artist - will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2023 Music Biennale "for his research into the quality, beauty and diffusion of digital sound and for his conception of acoustic space as a compositional tool".
The decision was taken by the Board of Directors of the Biennale di Venezia, which approved the recommendation of Lucia Ronchetti, Director of the Music Department, in line with the theme of the 67th International Festival of Contemporary Music (16 > 29 October), Micro-Music, which aims to highlight "the fascination and expressive richness of digital sound".
"Since the beginning of his career," writes Lucia Ronchetti in the motivation, "Brian Eno's compositions have been conceived in terms of a generative process that evolves in a potentially infinite temporal dimension, foreshadowing many of today's compositional trends linked to digital sound.
His conception of the recording studio as a meta-instrument for the purposes of composition, a domain for the processing, multiplication and assembly of recorded sound fragments, acoustic simulacra and autonomous sound objects, has allowed Eno to create an immersive electronic space that transforms and permeates the sound reality that surrounds us, according to ever-changing dramaturgies.
Thanks to his conception of recorded music as a vast archive of infinitesimal sound fragments, an infinite acoustic palette at the composer's disposal, a mise en abyme of music history, generative ambient music is perceived by Brian Eno as the conceptual creation of a seed capable of developing, rather than as a tree already designed in every detail, invoking a compositional paradigm inspired by biology rather than architecture, capable of evolving on its own and constantly generating new soundscapes.
On 22 October (12 noon), in the Sala delle Colonne at Ca' Giustinian, Brian Eno will receive the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. The ceremony will be followed by a conversation with him and music critic Tom Service.

Murphy's ability to be an ever-evolving artist is a spectacle within a spectacle, always pushing boundaries in the studio and live. Italian festival Terraforma reveals first 21 names for 2023
Terraforma unveils the first artists for its eighth edition.
From 9 to 11 June Hudson Mohawke, Kuljit Bhamra, Beatrice Dillon and many others will perform in the splendid setting of Villa Arconati on the outskirts of Milan.
From 9 to 11 June, Terraforma returns, an international festival that combines artistic experimentation and
environmental sustainability. Like every year, Terraforma will take place at Villa Arconati, one of the historic
villas of the Parco delle Groane, located in the hamlet of Castellazzo di Bollate just 30 minutes from Milan.
For the eighth edition, Terraforma is more community-oriented, returning to that more human and diy dimension to which its audience is accustomed and fond of.
Terraforma 2023 is strongly inspired by the concept of 'Organic Music Society', the result of the meeting
legendary encounter between American multi-instrumentalist Don Cherry and interdisciplinary artist Moki Cherry who have succeeded in resetting the boundary between art and life.
For the lectures and matinee concerts, Terraforma collaborates with Blank Forms, which will present at the festival the book 'Organic Music Societies' with a panel by Lawrence Kumpf and Naima Karlsson, and will co-curate the live performances by Exotic Sin feat. TYSON and Still House Plants.
Like every year, Terraforma renews its visual identity, having the language of the Festival to a new artist: Colombian photographer Jim C. Nedd.

acid house, tropical disco, drum'n'bass, techno, dub and spiritual jazz; the Exotic Sin duo formed by
Kenichi Iwasa and Naima Karlsson includes piano, trumpet, flutes, percussion and two of Don Cherry's 'saxophones Don Cherry's 'Zen saxophones', and will perform at the festival with TYSON, a London-based singer-songwriter fresh from collaborations with Dean Blunt and Coby Sey; Still House Plants by Jessica Hickie-Kallenbach, Finlay Clark and David Kennedy, with edgy experimental pop between samples, slow core and R&B.
After the first tranche of tickets had already sold out, the second tranche is finally available, for three
days in camp.
SBTRKT announces first album in seven years, 'The Rat Road'.
New single 'Waiting' is the first taste of the producer's fourth album.
SBTRKT has released details of his fourth album 'The Rat Road' and shared the first single, 'Waiting' (feat. Teezo Touchdown).
The follow-up to Aaron Jerome's 2016 album 'SAVE YOURSELF' will arrive on 5 May.'Waiting' sees the musician and producer experimenting with a different sound from his previous, bombastic electronic releases.
"I'm always listening and searching for new music and I came across a Teezo song, 'I'm Just A Fan', in October '21," Jerome explained about the collaboration with Touchdown for the album's first single.
Speaking about his forthcoming LP, Jerome added: "This album was my most sonically ambitious record to date - following my own musical path - not based on someone else's perception of what SBTRKT should be.
"The title 'The Rat Road' is a pun on the concept of a 'rat race'. It's partly based on my own difficult experiences in the music industry and life in general, although I realised that the idea is not isolated from a much wider feeling of fatigue, definitely true here in the UK, with little sense of respite from ever-increasing costs, ever-diminishing opportunities and a divide and conquer mentality.
"There is a juxtaposition of determination and despair in the record.
Wilde Renate's new club M01 will open in Berlin.
The club is located next to Renate in Friedrichshain.
The team behind Berlin clubs Salon zur Wilden Renate and ELSE is launching a new club in Friedrichshain, M01, this month.
The intimate club will be located next to Renate, on the north side of the venue, with a capacity of 400 people on two floors.
Located in the eastern part of Friedrichshain on Markgrafendamm, M01 consists of three rooms with a 150-person dance floor downstairs and two rooms upstairs with seating areas, exhibitions and more.
Alessandro Boni explained: 'In Berlin there are many big clubs, but the city needs small venues for the community of DIY promoters and collectives. We want to enable small, independently financed promoters to curate their own parties without the financial risk of working in larger spaces. Thus, M01 offers both an intimate environment and a financially viable opportunity to support their ideas'.
The venue is scheduled to officially open this month, although neither an opening date nor events have yet been announced.
According to M01, the venue will offer a range of genres from house and techno to electro, collaborating with 'independent outside promoters who share an alternative vision of music and event curation'.
