Ortigia Sound System è un festival di musica elettronica che mescola i ritmi della tradizione mediterranea con le nuove tendenze della musica contemporanea.
Dopo il successo dell'ultima edizione, che ha portato il Festival all'attenzione nazionale, Ortigia Sound System allarga gli spot mediatici nazionali e internazionali su questa preziosa città attraverso un fitto programma di musica e performance artistiche distribuite in diverse aree dell'isola.
Dal 27 luglio al 31 luglio 2022 nell’incredibile cornice dell’isola siciliana tantissimi gli artisti che si sono esibiti per tutta la durata del festival.

Sei stato protagonista anche quest’anno della line up di Ortigia Sound System Festival. Primo anno dopo due anni di restrizioni. Quali sono le tue impressioni a caldo post festival? Come hai trovato e sentito le persone dall’altra parte della consolle?
Primo feedback a caldo? È stato in parte surreale tornare ad OSS e poterlo finalmente rivedere e rivivere nella sua vera essenza, libera.
Si percepiva che il pubblico aveva una voglia matta di tornare in prima fila, difronte agli speaker, di vedersi un live da più vicino possibile e dimenticare la distesa di sedie che lo scorso anno invadeva il castello Maniace. La bellezza di poter tornare all’Antico Mercato, uno tra gli stage che preferisco, si, quest’anno è stato diverso, è stato bello.
Dai vari commenti online/social abbiamo visto che il tuo set è stato molto apprezzato. In che modo prepari i set che vai a presentare al pubblico?
Sono molto felice del feedback ricevuto, era una gig alla quale tenevo particolarmente con un set time challenging suonando dalle 3am alle 5am per poi lasciare lo stage nelle mani di Uri (John Talabot).
A livello di set non sono solito preparare una tracklist da rispettare, non mi appartiene, qui la chiave è stata l’idea di farmi aprire l’after, mi è piaciuta dal primo istante, “vedere” questo bosco riempirsi, metto le virgolette perché lo stage dove suonavo era un’istallazione curata da Fosbury Architecture, un cubo circondato di teli che lentamente si alzavano fino a scoprire l’entità di chi stava suonando, quindi per la prima ora è stato una sorta di blind set fino a poi a scoprire una crowd densissima, bella, viva, pronta a godersi altre 5h di musica. Questo credo lo abbia reso un set unico per me, forse il più intenso. <3

Hai suonato insieme a John Talabot ed Eva Geist, qual è il rapporto che hai con questi due artisti? In che modo hai vissuto condividere la consolle con quest’ultimi?
Quando con Enrico Gambadoro (founder OSS) abbiamo concepito l’idea di far curare uno degli after al Km0 a Hivern Discs e quindi fare uno showcase con tre artisti della label, la scelta dei 3 nomi è stata naturale, con Uri nonostante lo scambio di messaggi, email, chat etc ci incrociamo solamente nei festival o in date che ci portano nella stessa città, ma ogni volta dopo pochi istanti c’è subito una genuina connessione. Aver pubblicato un album con loro è anche esser parte della loro famiglia, credo lo stesso valgo per Andrea (Eva Geist) artista con un gusto molto elegante a mio avviso con la quale dopo tempo siamo riusciti ad incontrarci e scambiare una bella chiacchera a cena prima del nostro show.
Passiamo invece ad una domanda da fruitore del festival. Quali sono stati i set che hai preferito ad Ortigia Sound System Festival?

Qual è secondo te la forza di Ortigia Sound System Festival? Perché lo consiglieresti?
Come dicevo prima l’energia del pubblico che ha OSS è uno degli ingredienti fondamentali, energia che arriva e che forse si genera dalla forza del mare che circonda Ortigia, il cibo, il sole, la pietra bianca e poi l’idea di arrivare in un luogo dove ogni singolo spostamento non necessità di un mezzo ma del tuo corpo, delle tue gambe, quell’essenza che citavo all’inizio, ‘essere liberi’, è lo stato mentale che si genera all’arrivo ogni anno, per questo lo consiglio.
Quali progetti hai in serbo per i tempi a venire?
Entro fine 2022 uscirà l’album registrato lo scorso anno in residenza ad OSS all’interno della chiesa ‘Gesù e Maria’ (Ortigia) insieme a Donato Di Trapani e Gianni Gebbia, il progetto si chiama ‘L’Ora Blu’.
Sempre fine 2022 come Lamusa II ho un EP dal nome “Popoli” in uscita per Garzen Records etichetta dei Red Axes.
Ora vorrei lavorare ad un nuovo live set da portare poi in tour 2022/2023.

Ortigia Sound System is an electronic music festival that mixes the rhythms of the Mediterranean tradition with new trends in contemporary music.
After the success of the last edition, which brought the festival to national attention, Ortigia Sound System widens the national and international media spots on this precious city through a dense program of music and artistic performances distributed in different areas of the island.
From July 27 to July 31, 2022 in the incredible setting of the Sicilian island many artists performed throughout the festival.
We talked about it
with Lamusa II.
You were featured again this year in the lineup of Ortigia Sound System Festival. The first year after two years of restrictions. What are your post-festival impressions? How did you find and feel about the people on the other side of the console?
First hot feedback? It was partly surreal to come back to OSS and finally be able to see it again and relive it in its proper, free essence.
You could sense that the audience was craving to be back in the front row, in front of the speakers, to see a live show from as close as possible and forget the expanse of chairs that invaded Maniace Castle last year. The beauty of being able to return to the Old Market, one of my favorite stages, yes, this year was different, but it was good.
From the various online/social comments, we saw that your set was trendy. How do you prepare the sets you go to present to the audience?
I am thrilled with the feedback I received; it was a gig I particularly cared about with a challenging set time playing from 3 am to 5 am and then leaving the stage in the hands of Uri (John Talabot).
Set-wise I don't usually prepare a tracklist to adhere to; it doesn't belong to me here. The key was the idea of having the after open; I liked it from the first moment, "seeing" this forest fill up, I put quotes because the stage where I was playing was an installation curated by Fosbury Architecture, a cube surrounded by sheets that slowly lifted to reveal the extent of who was playing, so for the first hour, it was a kind of blind set until then to discover a very dense, beautiful, alive crowd ready to enjoy another 5h of music. That, I think, made it a unique set for me, perhaps the most intense. <3

You have played together with John Talabot and Eva Geist, what is the relationship you have with these two artists? In what ways have you experienced sharing the console with the latter?
When with Enrico Gambadoro (founder OSS) we conceived the idea of having Hivern Discs curate one of the afters at Km0 and then do a showcase with three artists from the label, the choice of the 3 names was natural, with Uri despite the exchange of messages, emails, chats, etc we only cross paths at festivals or on dates that take us to the same city, but every time after a few moments there is immediately a genuine connection. To have released an album with them is also to be part of their family, I think the same applies to Andrea (Eva Geist) artist with very elegant taste in my opinion with whom after some time we managed to meet and have a nice chat over dinner before our show.

What do you think is the strength of Ortigia Sound System Festival? Why would you recommend it?
As I said before the energy of the audience that OSS has is one of the key ingredients, the energy that comes and is perhaps generated by the strength of the sea that surrounds Ortigia, the food, the sun, the white stone, and then the idea of arriving in a place where every single movement does not need a vehicle but your body, your legs, that essence that I mentioned at the beginning, 'being free,' is the state of mind that is generated upon arrival every year, that's why I recommend it.
What plans do you have in store for the times to come?
By the end of 2022, the album recorded last year in residence at OSS inside the church 'Jesus and Mary' (Ortigia) together with Donato Di Trapani and Gianni Gebbia will be released, the project is called “L'Ora Blu.”
Also, end of 2022 as Lamusa II I have an EP named 'Popoli' coming out on Garzen Records label of Red Axes.
Now I would like to work on a new live set to take on tour 2022/2023.
