In occasione della Milano Design Week 2024, DOPO? space in collaborazione con Ortigia Sound System APS e Abadir Academy presenta il progetto RUNAWAYS, un esperimento collettivo sull’abitare precario. La Milano Design Week non è solo una vetrina rilevante a livello globale, è anche un agente che altera il bioritmo dell’intera città, stravolgendo la vita quotidiana degli abitanti. Durante la settimana i prezzi degli affitti salgono alle stelle e tra gli abitanti c’è addirittura chi va a dormire da amici o parenti per affittare la propria casa o una stanza. Secondo una ricerca di AbitareCo, nel 2023: i prezzi sono cresciuti del +245% rispetto ad una qualsiasi settimana dell’anno e +16% rispetto al 2022, con un prezzo medio di 3.770 euro a settimana.
Il programma di DOPO? per la Milano Design Week 2024 mira a stimolare una riflessione su questi processi, nella convinzione che ci sia urgenza di nuovi livelli di complessità, dove le immagini e i linguaggi del design si affiancano al suo potenziale critico. Attraverso mostre, un public program dedicato e pratiche spaziali sperimentali, affronteremo gli effetti della Design Week sulla crisi abitativa in corso a Milano, con un focus sul ruolo del platform capitalism. Il risultato è una mostra-evento che, oltre ad accogliere esposizioni di product design, metterà in scena un esperimento di co-abitazione temporanea.
In particolare, il progetto promosso dalle tre realtà consiste in una tenda realizzata attraverso un workshop in Sicilia. L’oggetto è composto da tessuti acquistati nei mercati di Ortigia e Catania e cuciti attraverso un workshop curato da Repunto: in questo modo si vuole raccontare la vitalità e i colori dei mercati siciliani. L'installazione sarà poi utilizzata non solo come dimora per alcuni selezionati durante la Design Week ma anche come padiglione per il festival musicale che si tiene ad agosto sull'isola di Ortigia.
Il party di chiusura organizzato in collaborazione tra DOPO? space e Ortigia Sound System APS si terrà al DOPO? dalle 21 e vedrà in un prio tempo un Opening di Luca Viola (Dopo? Space) seguito da un dj-set di Volcov.
DJ, collezionista e amante della musica fin dai tardi anni '80, Volcov ha suonato in tutta Europa, negli Stati Uniti e in Giappone. Il suo vero nome è Enrico Crivellaro, ha fondato le etichette discografiche Archive nel 1997, Neroli nel 2000 e SJNRL nel 2003. Negli ultimi anni, la maggior parte dei suoi sforzi è stata dedicata allo sviluppo ancora più ricco ed eclettico del panorama sonoro della sua etichetta Neroli. Oltre a rilasciare costantemente musica di qualità, Volcov è ancora noto per i suoi dj set esperti e indiscutibilmente abili.

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, DOPO? space In collaboration with Ortigia Sound System APS and Abadir Academy, space presents the RUNAWAYS project, a collective experiment on precarious living. Milan Design Week is not only a globally relevant showcase but also an agent that alters the biorhythm of the entire city, upending the inhabitants' daily lives. During the week, rental prices skyrocket among the inhabitants, even those who go to sleep with friends or relatives to rent their house or a room. According to research by AbitareCo, in 2023, prices grew by +245% compared to any week of the year and +16% compared to 2022, with an average price of 3,770 euros per week.
The program for AFTER? for Milan Design Week 2024 aims to stimulate reflection on these processes, in the belief that there is an urgent need for new levels of complexity where the images and languages of design are combined with their critical potential. Through exhibitions, a dedicated public program, and experimental spatial practices, we will address the effects of Design Week on the ongoing housing crisis in Milan, with a focus on the role of platform capitalism. The result is an exhibition event that, in addition to hosting product design exhibitions, will stage an experiment in temporary co-habitation.
In particular, the project promoted by the three entities consists of a tent created through a workshop in Sicily. The object comprises fabrics purchased in the markets of Ortigia and Catania and sewn through a workshop curated by Repunto. In this way, we want to tell the vitality and colors of the Sicilian markets. The installation will then be used as a home for some selected people during Design Week and as a pavilion for the music festival held in August on the island of Ortigia.
The closing party organized in collaboration between DOPO? space and Ortigia Sound System APS be held at DOPO? from 9pm and will initially see an opening by Luca Viola (DOPO? Space) followed by a DJ set by Volcov.
Since the late 1980s, Volcov has been a DJ, collector, and music lover who has played throughout Europe, the United States, and Japan. His real name is Enrico Crivellaro; he founded Archive's record labels in 1997, Neroli in 2000, and SJNRL in 2003. In recent years, most of his efforts have been dedicated to developing his music's soundscape to be richer and more eclectic—the Neroli label. In addition to consistently releasing quality music, Volcov is still known for his expert and unquestionably skilled DJ sets.
