A quasi sei anni di distanza i due producer berlinesi Felix Wagner e Aaron Röbig, meglio conosciuti come FJAAK, torneranno con un nuovo album.
“FJAAK THE SYSTEM”, che uscirà il prossimo 14 maggio in versione doppio LP e in digitale, conterrà collaborazioni con volti noti come Modeselektor, Skee Mask, Red Eye e J. Manuel (alias di Kevin Kozick, ex membro del gruppo che nel 2019 ha deciso di abbandonare il progetto per proseguire la sua carriera da solista) che andranno a completare un disco di 23 tracce che promette di riflettere al meglio l’amore dei due per il dancefloor. Spaziando in un album che miscela breakbeat UK, techno, 2-step, d'n'b, jungle, trip-hop e ambient, il duo promette di creare pezzi ibridi e flessibili che rappresentino al meglio il loro ideale utopico di club, un luogo in cui i confini fra i generi si dissolvono per lasciare ampio spazio al groove.
Oggi, 11 aprile, si preannuncia una data molto importante per l’iconico duo emblema del dancefloor tedesco poiché, oltre all’anteprima d’ascolto del loro nuovo album che si terrà alle 20:00 di oggi al Berghain di Berlino, i due hanno anche preannunciato la pubblicazione del secondo singolo che andrà ad anticipare il disco in uscita il prossimo maggio, “And You Feel”. La traccia (preceduta dalla pubblicazione di “Redemption” alcune settimane fà e anche questa accompagnata da un video che potete trovare qua ) vuole rappresentare al meglio quel momento della tua vita in cui ti rendi conto che tutto fino ad ora potrebbe essere stato falso, una presa di coscienza sul fatto che l’unica cosa che potrebbe farci uscire dalla gabbia socialmente costruita in cui viviamo è la musica, da sempre in grado di trasportarci in luoghi fisici e non nel quale ci si possa sentire al sicuro e lasciarsi andare. È un viaggio attraverso la sinfonia della vita, dove i ritmi pulsanti della broken beat britannica e le armonie avvolgenti si incontrano in un momento di tranquillo vuoto, echeggiando l'essenza dell'esistenza in mezzo al crescendo di adrenalina. Questa vibrante fusione di breakbeat, broken techno e UK-breakbeat influenzata dalla techno si destruttura abilmente per tracciare nuovi territori, offrendo una visione fresca del genere e lasciando alle spalle i pesi del passato.
Nel 2019 i due producer hanno lanciato l’etichetta discografica Spandau 2.0, sotto il quale uscirà anche questo loro ultimo disco, dando il via ad un flusso costante di pubblicazioni e una serie di mixtape che presentano nuovi talenti e artisti affermati. Oltre ad esibirsi costantemente in alcuni dei club più noti al mondo come Fabric, Berghain e Bassiani, i FJAAK hanno già confermato per quest’anno la loro presenza in festival come Junction 2, Boomtown, Awakenings, OFF Sonar, DGTL, Pollerwiesen e Nuits Sonores.
Un suono consapevole, consolidato da una laurea come ingegneri del suono conseguita nei primi anni del decennio, si combina alla perfezione con l’amore che i FJAAK hanno per drum machine e synth, con il quale si esibiscono in energici live set solo hardware, tutti questi elementi fanno sì che da “FJAAK THE SYSTEM” ci si possano aspettare grandi cose, magari la creazione di un nuovo punto di riferimento che porti davvero al centro il groove, trovando il giusto equilibrio fra la capacità di far dare di matto la gente sul dancefloor e l’ingegno nella cura delle produzioni.

Nearly six years later, the two Berlin-based producers Felix Wagner and Aaron Röbig, better known as FJAAK, will return with a new album. "FJAAK THE SYSTEM”, set to be released on May 14th in double LP and digital formats, will feature collaborations with well-known figures such as Modeselektor, Skee Mask, Red Eye, and J. Manuel (alias of Kevin Kozick, a former member of the group who decided to pursue his solo career in 2019), completing a 23-track album that promises to reflect the duo's love for the dancefloor. Spanning an album that blends UK breakbeat, techno, 2-step, d'n'b, jungle, trip-hop, and ambient, the duo promises to create hybrid and flexible pieces that best represent their utopian club ideal, a place where genre boundaries dissolve to leave plenty of room for groove.
Today, April 11th, marks a very important date for the iconic duo emblematic of the German dancefloor scene. In addition to the listening preview of their new album scheduled for 8:00 PM today at Berghain in Berlin, the duo has also announced the release of the second single that will precede the album coming out next May, "And You Feel". The track (preceded by the release of "Redemption" a few weeks ago, also accompanied by a video that you can find here) aims to best represent that moment in your life when you realize that everything up until now may have been false, a realization that the only thing that could get us out of the socially constructed cage we live in is music, always able to transport us to physical and non-physical places where we can feel safe and let go. It's a journey through the symphony of life, where the pulsating rhythms of British broken beat and enveloping harmonies meet in a moment of tranquil void, echoing the essence of existence amidst the adrenaline crescendo. This vibrant fusion of breakbeat, broken techno, and UK-breakbeat influenced by techno skillfully deconstructs to chart new territories, offering a fresh take on the genre and leaving behind the burdens of the past.
In 2019, the two producers launched the record label Spandau 2.0, under which this latest album will also be released, kickstarting a steady flow of releases and a series of mixtapes featuring new talents and established artists. In addition to regularly performing at some of the world's most renowned clubs such as Fabric, Berghain, and Bassiani, FJAAK has already confirmed their presence at festivals for this year including Junction 2, Boomtown, Awakenings, OFF Sonar, DGTL, Pollerwiesen, and Nuits Sonores.
A conscious sound, reinforced by a degree as sound engineers obtained in the early years of the decade, perfectly combines with FJAAK's love for drum machines and synths, with which they perform energetic live sets using only hardware. All these elements suggest that "FJAAK THE SYSTEM" holds great promise, perhaps even creating a new benchmark that truly focuses on the groove, striking the right balance between the ability to drive people crazy on the dancefloor and ingenuity in production care.
